What’s Behind Montréal’s Thriving Music Scene

M for Montréal? You might not have heard of it, but it’s one of the paramount annual music discovery showcases across the globe. It’s now entering its 20th edition, set to take place from 19th to 22nd November, continuing to lead from the forefront in spotlighting the best rising artists from The Great White North and further afield.

This year, the conference and festival have enlisted one of the biggest artists in Canada for the headline slot. Instrumental band BADBADNOTGOOD have been pioneering the new wave of jazz for over a decade, and will be stamping their weighty approval on the festival with an exclusive performance.

Elsewhere, there’s plenty of intriguing talent to dive into; an eclectic array that feel primed to take that next leap. There’s Colin Stetson, globally renowned saxophonist and composer, known for collaborations with Arcade Fire and Bon Iver. Elsewhere, there’s dance punk outfit Chosen Sauvages, R&B singer-songwriter Léonie Gray, rapper Mike Shabb, and electro-pop darling BéLi.

Wonderland will be heading across the Atlantic to check out who is hot right now in the ‘City of a Hundred Steeples’. For now, check out the below playlist to check out who is playing and to find out more about the festival, head here
