Kendrick Lamar released a music video for his top-charting diss track, “Not Like Us” — and man, we’re here for it!

Did you celebrate the 4th of July this year? Well, Kendrick Lamar certainly did. Sending fans into a frenzy yesterday evening, the rapper dropped a music video for his chart-topping tune, “Not Like Us,” marking the culmination of his feud with Drake and solidifying its place among the greatest diss tracks of all time. While it’s an electrifying treat for those following the year’s biggest pop culture drama, the release wasn’t entirely unexpected, given that Lamar (literally) performed the track six times in a row at his “The Pop Out” concert last month.

Fans saw that concert as the day Lamar claimed victory in the beef — and now, in his new music video, we witness him reveling in the aftermath. Laden with references to Drake, his OVO label, and the saga between these two powerhouses, Lamar seems to have taken a Taylor Swift-like approach to songwriting and creative direction. For whilst there are a handful of very obvious call-outs, others references are more subtle, leaving the interpretation open to his fans. Okay, maybe too far. Picture Lamar doing push-ups on cinder blocks, smashing an owl piñata, and disclaimers stating “no OVHoes were harmed during the making of this video.” If you know, you know. Check it out…
