Written in 2023 while Kendrick was six months pregnant with her first child, Geowulf’s debut solo album is a bold and profoundly introspective project. Drawing on her turbulent and fractured childhood, Kendrick uses the album as a poignant lens to reflect on the kind of mother she aspires to become. A standout track, “Stay Baby”, is a deeply emotive and powerfully resonant piece that sees Kendrick adopt the perspective of her own mother. The song is both heart-wrenching and beautifully evocative, imagining her mother’s experience of pregnancy while constructing a finely detailed and fully realised character study in the process.

Accompanying the track are the mesmerising visuals for “Stay Baby”, offering a vivid glimpse into Geowulf’s creative vision. Brimming with her distinctive vocal richness, sumptuous instrumentation, and an irresistibly infectious melody, the song is a dazzling reflection of Geowulf’s artistry. Its intimate and achingly heartfelt visuals perfectly complement the track, making “Stay Baby” an unforgettable moment in Kendrick’s solo venture.

Delving into the track and his feelings towards the composition, Geowulf shares, “This song explores personal abandonment, disappointment and family. It’s one of my favourites on the record. I was really wanting a droney 90s esque feeling for this chorus. I like the change in tempos and the contrast of the story telling verses and the chorus which becomes more of a plea.”
