If 2024 is anything to go by when it comes to watches, it’s the anniversary year that keeps on giving. Claiming one of their own celebrations this year, Saxony’s finest, A. Lange & Söhne marks a quarter-century of its first chronograph calibre. To celebrate the affair, the maestros in timekeeping reveal a unique DATOGRAPH UP/DOWN in special merit.
Dato-who? Datograph we shall reply. Only one of the finest Chronographs in all of the land, that, since 1999 has been a coveted model among any keep collectors wrist. It’s like wanting a tweed jacket with chain interior to keep its shape, and knowing that there’s only one Maison who will continuously deliver it and such a high-standard. Cough cough, Chanel.
But less on Parisian greats and more on German greatness. Dubbed the “Hampton Court Edition,” this all-new grail boasts a 750 white-gold case, grey dial complete with contrasting black sub-dials, and a striking red chrono seconds hand. In a mark of the spectacular, a hinged cuvette (think of it like a hinged door that opens to reveal the organs of what makes the watch tick) reveals a superior movement, with intricate finishing and the spectacle that comes with the minutiae of detail in fine watchmaking.
