There was Gigi. Then there was Bella. Now, the Hadid family’s next in line is ready for us to ask what we’ve all been thinking: Who exactly is Aydan Nix?

The Hadid family has never been short on sisters, but last June the story took an unexpected turn. Bella and Gigi – supermodels, muses, and part of fashion’s most photographed dynasty – quietly welcomed a new name into the fold after a DNA test revealed Aydan Nix’s biological connection to the family. The discovery was kept private for months to give her space away from the spotlight, until earlier this year, when the surprise became official and the Hadid lineage gained another perfect face.
She’s 22. Florida-born, New York-based, a Parsons fashion grad. Limbs for days. Effortlessly cool. Glazed skin. Sharp bone structure. Brunette waves, all undone and sun-warped. The Hadid DNA is there, sure, but Aydan’s reintroducing it on her own terms.
A literary obsessive who prefers her protagonists a little unhinged (we’re now exchanging book reccomendations). A hypochondriac. Vintage freak (obviously). Bath maximalist. Charlotte Wells devotee. We catch up over DMs from her East Village apartment, where she’s typing from what she calls “the comfiest bed on earth,” to get to know the Hadid you haven’t met – just yet.

@ellabardsley_: What’s the first thing you do when you open your eyes?
@toospoiled: I hate to say it, but definitely roll over and go on my phone. I’m trying to start stretching first. I’ve been following these morning yoga exercises I saw on YouTube. It’s a 50/50 chance I’ll actually do them though.
@ellabardsley_: What does your For Your Page look like?
@toospoiled: Other people’s vintage hauls that I vicariously live through, old clips of America’s Next Top Model and Ru Paul’s Drag Race, edits of The Hunger Games or Doctor Who, OCD TikToks, videos about rare diseases I get convinced I have and then random stupid stuff that makes me laugh.
@ellabardsley_: Who makes you laugh the most?
@toospoiled: It has to be a tie between two of my best friends, Elliot and Inaya. They’re the funniest people I know.
@ellabardsley_: What’s one piece in your wardrobe you’d grab if your house was on fire?
@toospoiled: I think about this one a lot. But one piece?? That’s like a mother trying to choose which kid to save. Bella gave me a few dresses to try for graduation. There’s a beautiful Roberto Cavalli runway piece I’d probably have to save because it’s truly incredible.

@ellabardsley_: Oooh tell me more.
@toospoiled: Is a photo better than words? [She sends us a picture.] How insane is sheee? Truly art, I can’t stand it. I need someone to give me an event to wear her!
@ellabardsley_: Hell yeah! I would run into a fire for that too. Did you end up wearing any of the dresses Bella gave you to your graduation?
@toospoiled: I actually didn’t! I had two ceremonies. I wore one I bought at Salvation Army randomly and then borrowed a friend’s vintage Galliano, who was lovely enough to lend it to me. But it’s only because all of Bella’s pieces were too good of a moment for the Parson’s auditorium.
@ellabardsley_: If you could steal one outfit from Gigi or Bella’s wardrobe, what would it be?
@toospoiled: I could spend a lifetime in their closets, I’ve been in Bella’s and I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. She has the most insane collection. If I had to choose, probably the Michael Sears and Hushidar Mortezai dress Bella wore to Cannes. Such a beautiful moment. I would also love to steal the outfit Gigi wore at the MET Gala this year, or the one from 2018. I want all of it, don’t make me choose!
@ellabardsley_: Who is your ultimate fashion muse?
@toospoiled: So many! Sharon Tate, Brigette Bardot, Jane Birkin, Taylor Russell. Keira Knightley’s 2000s street style. My mom. Devon Aoki. Jessa from Girls. Fiona Apple. Audrey Horne from Twin Peaks.
@ellabardsley_: Where’s your favourite place to go on holiday?
@toospoiled: Anywhere I can swim and eat good seafood. I never knew how much I cared about being in the water until I left Florida, where I was born and raised. Now, as much as I love New York, I miss it everyday.

@ellabardsley_: What books are you reading?
@toospoiled: I’m re-reading The Hunger Games right now, which I somehow still love as much as I loved as a kid. Lately, I’ve read Grotesque and Out by Kirino Natsuo and adored them. I’ve read every single Gillian Flynn book, absolutely adore her. I just started a collection of short stories by Shirley Jackson. After that, I think I’ll re-read I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman. It touched me in a way I’m not sure another book has. Basically everything I read needs to have a messed up female protagonist and a layer of bleakness. Oh Severance by Ling Ma too. So good. So bleak.
@ellabardsley_: What’s your star sign and does it match up?
@toospoiled: I’m a Virgo sun, Aquarius moon, Aquarius rising! I’m not the clean, neat kind of Virgo. I’m the anxious, overly critical of myself-and-others, uptight kind of Virgo, while simultaneously the laidback, but opinionated, creative, and easily distracted Aquarius. I think it totally matches up and is truly a constant internal battle.
@ellabardsley_: What makes you feel powerful?
@toospoiled: Honestly, using my voice. It’s so easy to feel powerless, but my mom used to tell me this story about starfish. I’m not sure exactly how it went, but the point was that if you can make a difference to one starfish (or person), it’s worth it. So doing the best I can to make a difference, no matter how small the impact is, makes me feel powerful. Going to protests, boycotting, donating and sharing mutual aid info, educating over alienating. Talking about Palestine as much as possible, in any opportunity – that’s the kind of stuff that makes me feel powerful in a way that matters.

@ellabardsley_: What’s the biggest misconception people have about you?
@toospoiled: People sometimes think I’m mean or stuck up when they first meet me. In reality, I’m just a really super nervous person. I have crazy social anxiety and feel like I can never say the right thing. I think this comes off as standoffish, but I’m really sensitive. Things affect me a lot and I don’t think people understand that about me. I’m a huge feeler and often lost in my own head – in the least cringey way possible.
@ellabardsley_: What’s your worst habit?
@toospoiled: Definitely apologising for no reason, negative self-talk, vaping, and Googling my symptoms.
@ellabardsley_: Who is your favourite female director?
@toospoiled: I definitely don’t have a favourite of all time currently, although I do love the obvious choice of Sofia Coppola. But film wise, I love Charlotte Wells’Aftersun. Jamie Babbit’s But I’m a Cheerleader. Emma Seligman is great. Daisy von Scherler Mayer’s Party Girl. And one of my all time favourite movies, Autumn de Wilde’s Emma.
@ellabardsley_: Aftersun broke me.
@toospoiled: I was on a plane when I watched it and I was inconsolable.
@ellabardsley_: What album do you always have on repeat?
@toospoiled: Imogen Heap’s Speak for Yourself, Da Bomb Vol. 2 by DJ Godfather (something my friend showed me), Tia Blake’s Folksongs & Ballads, Lana Del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell, The Moldy Peaches’ self-titled album, Daft Punk’s Discovery and Random Access Memories. And since I’m nostalgic: any Tyler, the Creator album—Wolf or Goblin especially.

@ellabardsley_: Can you sing?
@toospoiled: When I drink, I think I can. But I definitely can’t…
@ellabardsley_: What’s your beauty routine?
@toospoiled: Honestly, I’m too easily sidetracked to have a complicated one. I take a thousand baths a day. If I’m sad, sick, happy, angry…I’m in my bath. I’m currently using all Caudalie products, which I love. And I moisturise from head to toe religiously – mostly because I hate the feeling of dry skin.
@ellabardsley_: What TV show have you got on the re-run right now? I just finished Lena Dunham’s Too Much.
@toospoiled: I haven’t seen it yet but I must. I love Girls, it’s always in rotation. Broad City as well. I also recently finished Overcompensating – too good. Right now I’m watching the second season of The Last of Us and it’s getting sad. I need a new show, I can’t handle it. I get too attached.
@ellabardsley_: What’s always in your bag?
@toospoiled: Never my keys. I lock myself out of my apartment multiple times a month. I do always have a book, which just makes my purse hurt my back. I don’t go anywhere without Clinique’s Black Honey. And I always have a jumbo size bottle of ibuprofen. It’s actually comical how huge it is.
@ellabardsley_: Who is your ultimate celeb crush?
@toospoiled: Paul Mescal and Adam Driver probably. Oh, also Mike Faist. Challengers got me as it did most girls.
@ellabardsley_: What’s a lesson your family’s taught you that you’ll always carry?
@toospoiled: There are so many. My mom always told me that when someone shows you who they are, to believe them – and as she always adds (because I always forget), the first time! Don’t allow people into your life that don’t serve you. Your energy and love is precious.
@ellabardsley_: What’s next for you – fashion, styling, or something completely unexpected? What’s the dream?
@toospoiled: My one true love is styling. I’ve been assisting stylists like Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who I admire so much. Being on set or in the office, I’ve learned so much – more than in all four years at Parsons. So it feels like I’m just furthering my education under incredible stylists. I think the future is full of long hours and working my ass off to carve out a space for myself in the industry and being open to as many opportunities as I possibly can, to learn and grow. Eventually I’d love to open a vintage store as well, and to costume design for TV and movies. But still so much to learn before I get there!
