Socially conscious and sonically characterful, sounds mint keep it loose and lively on their raw and invigorating sophomore EP. “One Day We’ll Make It Out Of Here, ‘Til Then;” finds the London four-piece expanding on their post-punk-leaning indie rock into something that feels mercurial yet grounded.

The Clash – “The Guns Of Brixton“
I was listening to that song a lot and wanted to make a song with that same sort of sentiment, punk but with a dub/reggae influence. I wrote a bass line with those feelings in mind and the song “Tin” came together from that.
XXXTENTACION – “Revenge“
I love how haunting and raw the acoustic guitars sound on this record and that inspired me to write a tune with acoustic guitars with a grungey/haunting chord progression that’s more initimate and emotive. That’s how the chords came together for the tune “Spy Kids”.

Nirvana – “You Know Your Right“
I love the drum sound – how raw it is, how it can change the song so quickly, snare flams and rolls, driving tom beats.
The Strokes – “The Adults Are Talking“
A simple loop made on a drum machine can be as effective as a full drum kit in providing a rhythmic base for a song. Simplicity is key.
Layla:
The Chats – “Smoko”
I was saying I wanted to make an Australian sounding song, a song where the bass line leads, that’s what led to “Incel Saviour” becoming a song. It’s driven by the bass and has a simple but catchy chorus.
Portishead – “Mysterons”
I love the production and sonics of this song, it’s super eerie and builds a similar atmosphere to “Zombies” in a way. I love the different layers and how it builds in places then drops down.

DigDat – “Pink Notes”
This gave me access to the part of my brain that brought the darkness out to light.
Black Flag – “Beat My Head Against A Wall”
This really is what I think about when I’m trying to portray the struggle everyone has going through life and then shutting down on the sofa and then repeating, sucks.
