Forget pristine blowouts and perfectly coiffed curls. Prada AW25 hair is a delicious dishevelment, drenched in a rebellious I woke up like this energy – and your new excuse to leave the hair straightener unplugged in the AM.

It’s Prada or nada – you know the drill. But for Autumn/Winter 25, hair mastermind Guido Palau seemed intent on sitting at the opposite end of the spectrum when crafting the runway’s beauty look. Contrasting with the sleek, impeccably tailored clothes and sharp lines traditional to the Milanese maison, luxurious fabrics were thrown into harsh contrast with wild, almost aggressively unkempt locks.

But don’t be naive enough to think this ecstatic styling (quite literally, Palau created the look by rubbing balloons on the models’ heads) is the result of a badly set room thermostat. Every strand of frizz walking down Miuccia and Raf’s runway was meticulously crafted – a visual representation of how the designers envision the modern woman: complex, multifaceted, and not defined by a perfect blowout.

While some might trace the roots of this frazzled elegance back to Miu Miu’s AW23 untamed English woman, Prada has been cultivating this aesthetic for years. Remember the Olsen twins’ nonchalant hair tuck? It walked so our dishevelled queens could run. Peeking out from collars and defying all attempts at taming, there’s a female gaze of hair at play here – raw, real, and undeniably glamorous, rejecting any kind of overly curated, Tik Tok-favourite clean girl aesthetic.

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, along with Palau and makeup artist Lynsey Alexander, are asking: What does femininity mean today? And how can we redefine beauty on our own terms? This juxtaposition of ugly and beautiful collides to create something extraordinary – a statement of independence from the tyranny of perfect hair days. And man, we’re signing up for this.
