BBY GOYARD IS ON REPEAT

MJ Lenderman, My Chemical Romance, The Crying Nudes: BBY GOYARD shares the tracks that inspired his latest album, TASTEMAKER.

BBY GOYARD is On Repeat

American artist BBY GOYARD is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and boundary-pushing artists coming through right now, who continues to carve out his own distinctive lane. Considered as a pioneers of trends now popular in rap, BBY GOYARD has influenced the genre with his use of sped-up and pitched-up vocals, the re-popularising of DJ tags (notably with DJ Smokey), and the popularisation of “Lore” in everyday speech.

Now, the precocious, elusive star has resurfaced with a new unfiltered sound that immerses listeners in a thematic journey of sin, desire and transformation. BBY GOYARD’s album TASTEMAKER promises an immersive journey inspired by Dante’s Inferno and channels the raw experience from his 2024 tour with death metal band Portrayal of Guilt, blending the intensity of early 2000s punk and grunge with modern innovation. The LP as a whole embraces alternative, punk, and grunge, with a visceral, action-packed vibe that speaks to those seeking something rebellious, transformative, and thought-provoking. The young artist has successfully merged his underground, avant-garde style with a bold, genre-blending approach that is both timely and timeless. Below, he rounds up the tracks that inspire the work.

BBY GOYARD’s On Repeat…

My Chemical Romance – “Drowning Lessons”

This is my favourite song from probably my favourite album of all time I love the vampiric theme of it all and this song perfectly encapsulates everything I love about early 2000s EMO music I grew up on.

Coheed and Cambria – “Crossing The Frame”

Claudio Sanchez has the most unique vocal style and unorthodox cadences it’s very inspiring to me as a “niche” artist. The song is spiritual but not overly religious. 10/10

MJ Lenderman – “Rudolph”

MJ has been a friend of mine for a couple years now and the main thing I enjoy about his music are the lyrics and storytelling. “BLUE AND BLACK TIRE TRACKS TORN THROUGH A BEAUTIFUL DOE. DELETED SCENE OF LIGHTNING MCQUEEN BLACKED OUT AT FULL SPEED” I mean cmon…

Celtic Frost – “Circle of the Tyrants”

Good extreme Swiss metal at its finest on display. Start the day with this one and have the battery in your back amplified.

Casino Hearts – “R U Coming to My Room”

Just recently got into this band and I’ve been obsessed. The melodic yet ambient vocals are some of the best in the scene right now. Just a kick ass track

The American Dawn – “Her”

Just listen to that fucking guitar, beautiful yet sombre at the same time, perfect for a long road trip through the countryside.

The Crying Nudes – “blood meadow”

A masterpiece in my opinion everything works so well together it’s a song that could have been big in 1990 or 2025. You can’t say that about a lot of songs.

Dopplereffeckt – “PLASTIPHILIA”

Truly a weird dance track about making love to a mannequin that makes me want to dance like a robot in the 80s.

Elusin – “Locked and Loaded”

Real ROCK that the world has been missing, it’s almost industrial in a way that sounds like your trying to make your way to heaven while fighting through a mechanical hell.

Lolina – “Easy Rider Geneva Heat”

The DIY sound of this record is perfect for when you want to just drown out everything and put some headphones on. So simple yet so complex you can really tell it was made with care.
