Universal Music partner with the revered visual artist to showcase their BRITs after-party in a celebration of culture, art and music.
This Saturday is a big one for all you music lovers out there: the most grandiose stars in the glitziest fits are set to descend onto the O2 Arena for The BRIT Awards. Who’s going? What’s your plans after? Well, you’ll find some of the most exclusive guests at Universal Music’s infamous after-party, which will be attended by a plethora of winners and nominees.
To mark the occasion, the label has partnered with esteemed artist Chila Kumari Burman MBE in their latest annual celebration of creativity and innovation. Universal have commissioned the visual artist—known for the vibrance of her work and the amalgamation of her British and Indian influences—to create collectable invitations for the after hours event.
It’s the latest in a long line of achievements for Burman, whose pieces have appeared in Tate Britain, Covent Garden, Liverpool Town Hall and many others settings. The neon characteristics of her work are on full show in the striking work; a decadent exploration of the increasing cross-pollination of art and music.
Speaking on the collaboration, the artist shares, “I am thrilled to be working with Universal Music on their BRIT Awards after-party. Music has always been an important part of my life and is inextricably linked to my art. I grew up in Liverpool—a city with a strong and unique musical heritage—during the 1960s where I was exposed to a wide range of musical references from Bhangra to The Beatles. For the party invitations, I’ve created a musical and magical image with subversive punk pop Punjabi glamour, with empowerment embodied by my neon white tiger. I hope all the wonderful guests find joy in what I have created for them.”
