Set to take place in late January across four cities in Northern Portugal, the radical new music showcase and conference hopes to shift perspectives and open conversations, whilst shining a light on unassuming brilliance.

The opportunity to reflect on the complex terrain on which the music industry grazes is exceedingly scarce, what with the throttling winds and congested creative clouds we all exist beneath. But SQUARE, the progressive new musical showcase and conference that’s set to take place from 29th January to 1st February across four cities in Northern Portugal, brings with it such a rarity. 

From Braga to Barcelos, Famalicão to Guimarães, the event will bring the chance to connect with and hear the thoughts of some of European music’s leading independent lights across the conference programme. There’s also plenty of new music to discover, with an electric and eclectic coterie of global acts set to showcase their unique craft. Standouts from the recently shared final announcement of artists performing include: Lisbon-to-Cape Verdi’s forward-thinking Fidju Kitxora, Canadian Lebanese multidisciplinary artist Liliane Chlela, and EMMVR, a Mozambican-Portuguese rapper whose amalgamation of afro trap and hip hop is thrilling and full of depth.
