An absorbing coalescence of electronic, rap and ambient characteristics, “TANZPARTEI II”, the new mixtape from rising producer and DJ ATRIP, is a stunningly immersive listen. Boasting contributions from UK alt hip hop frontrunners Bawo and KAM-BU, as well as highly creative turns from Poté and TeaMarrr, the project feels intimate yet expanse, glossy yet understated.
An augmentation from ATRIP’s revered original “TANZPARTEI” tape from last year, the sophomore work shows a fleshing out of the artist’s sonic core, and delves into sub-styles in a mature and experimental manner. Impressed by the project, Wonderland wanted to know more about the inspirations behind “TANZPARTEI II”, and so asked ATRIP to share the tracks that he had On Repeat during its making.

Corbin – “Dragged“
To me, there aren’t many artists that manage to communicate a deeper level of sadness than Corbin. Not just his vocal delivery but also the productions of his beats has a rawness I absolutely love.
Logic1000 – “Can’t Let Go”
Logic1000 is one of my absolute favourite producers for reasons I don’t have the time to list. There’s a coolness to her productions that I admire deeply. This particular track has a lightness that just hits the spot for me.
Nia Archives, Mount Kimbie – “No Need 2 Be Sorry, Call Me? (Mount Kimbie Remix)”
I love how much is achieved with so little on this remix. In a way it’s a classic Mount Kimbie production, that little chord progression that keeps rolling on and on is extremely addictive. I’ve tried to recreate this song countless times, without luck.
Koreless – “Lost In Tokyo”
Koreless is someone I really look up to for ambience and abstraction, but also simplicity. “Lost In Tokyo” only really has 3 elements and yet it has this spectacular depth and space that completely soaks you up. It’s absolutely beautiful.
Everything But The Girl – “Before Today”
The record this song is on, “Walking Wounded”, is so unbelievably fresh and modern even today. The timelessness of an album that’s older than me is extremely inspirational to me.
Moderat – “Therapy”
One of my favourite musical acts of all time… Moderat have influenced me since the day I downloaded my first music software. I think what it is for me are the synths, their music is so incredibly warm and heavy at times, I could listen to it everyday for the rest of my life and not get bored.
Alvvays – “Dreams Tonite”
I have a playlist that has the sole purpose of fuelling me with sunshine and a smile when I need it, and this song by Alvvays is probably topping that list. I hope my music embraces someone as warmly as this song embraces me one day. I love you & thank you Alvvays! x
Scuba – “Yesterday (Digital Underground)”
As an electronic producer that has a tendency to touch into uplifting and light moods, I always try to stay in touch with the rave and there aren’t many that embody that better than Scuba. Sometimes all you need is a break and bass. Nuts!
