Marking their remarkable ascent in the music scene with their self-titled debut, Black Bordello have intricately crafted a rich and layered sound. At its core is lead singer Sienna Bordello’s mesmerising blend of vivid, fragmented lyricism, which masterfully weaves together a diverse range of genres, including alternative rock, vaudevillian chamber pop, post-punk, avant-garde music, and modern blues. Reflecting on the release of their debut project, Sienna explains, “Our first album was an experience of me finishing adolescence and realising that the adult world was more laced with misogyny and other disparities. I became fed up and bored by earthly politics and semantics, hence my current fascination with the metaphysical world and outer space.”

Cultivating a steady grassroots following, the group now rewards fans with their highly anticipated sophomore release, “White Bardo”—an enigmatic project from the rising ensemble that distills Sienna’s seething, macabre lyricism into a potent collection of tracks. These songs are underscored by emphatic instrumental arrangements and elevated by soaring production.

Earlier this year, the group welcomed their devoted fanbase to a sold-out show at Paper Dress Vintage. Reflecting on the event, Sienna recalls, “Everyone was given a mask on the way in. Which meant that the audience looked like something out of Eyes Wide Shut. There was a massive red piñata in the shape of a drop of blood which the audience destroyed upon request. It was filled with confetti, glitter, cigarettes and band merch.”
