Tom Taylor Takes Wonderland to KENZO

Wonderland

TOM TAYLOR × KENZO

The British actor chats to Wonderland about attending his first fashion week show — the Kenzo SS25 presentation in Paris.

Perhaps you know him as Jake Chambers from The Dark Tower, in which he starred opposite Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, or maybe you recognise him from this week’s House of the Dragon premiere, where he graced our screens as the highly anticipated Lord Cregan Stark. But now, the budding British actor Tom Taylor has officially made his fashion week debut.

Taylor gives us a behind-the-scenes look at his time getting ready for the Kenzo SS25 presentation, sharing details on his look, what makes a show memorable, and his new pre-show routine.

Hi Tom! How are you doing and how is Paris?

I’m good thanks. I’ve just had a 15-hour journey from Cape Town. I had some time off shooting and so I thought what better to do than dress up fancy and watch the Kenzo show. I’m so happy to be back in Paris, it’s a beautiful city.

Can you tell us about your look for the Kenzo SS25 show?
My look was from the FW24 collection, Magic Galaxy. It’s a burgundy outfit with a shearling collar. I love the contrasting patterns of the shirt and trousers and of course, can’t forget my shades. I feel very classy but relaxed wearing this… I see myself in the smoker’s room with a cigar conducting some grand plans.

What’s your typical pre-show routine?

This is actually my first show — so far I’ve had a shower and a beer. Maybe after a few more shows my routine will be more refined. Of course, the music is already pumping.

What’s your favourite part of fashion shows/what do you get most excited about?
Seeing all of the looks come together — especially in the closing moments of the show, where you can see how much detail has gone into every piece. Nigo’s Kenzo is so colourful, so many interesting shapes and there is so much creativity there. It’s special to see that all come to life.

Did you have any expectations going into the show?

I think with these sort of things you always feel a sort of bubbling anticipation. You expect a SHOW and that’s certainly what we got!

Is there a look that stands out to you from the runway?
The triple denim with the gold and blues looked so good. Sometimes, you see pieces that are incredible but you might not get away with in the day-to day — but I’d definitely wear that one… everywhere.

What makes a show memorable to you?

Truly the most memorable thing is the fits! The more of a connection I have with the clothes, the more of a memorable experience it creates for me. Of course, the music and the people add to the feeling however at the end of the day, it’s all about the fashion.
