We take a look behind the scenes in the making of the visuals for “Nothing 2 See”, the Toronto-based multi-facet’s latest single…

Continuing to reinvent his sound and cement his acclaim as one of the most interesting artists coming out of Toronto, HOMESHAKE is as enigmatic as he is meticulous. The polymath in March shared CD Wallet, his sixth studio record, an inward, harrowingly beautiful body of work that saw a stylistic turn towards shoe gaze and post-rock, a worthy addition to his bountiful discography.

Only a few months later, HOMESHAKE has returned with news of a follow-up LP, Horsie, set for release on 28th June. The forthcoming album was written and record at the artist’s home studio in Toronto and will see him delved into influences as far ranging as Four Tet, My Bloody Valentine and Sade. Alongside the announcement, HOMESHAKE has shared a first single and accompanying visuals for “Nothing 2 See”, our first glimpse at the new body of work.

To celebrate the news and the teasing single’s release, we take a look inside HOMESHAKE’s recent trip to LA and Palm Spring, including exclusive imagery behind the scenes of the making of the “Nothing 2 See” visuals…

“We were concerned about the weather during the shoot, was not expecting it to rain rain in the desert, but turned out to be perfect. the clouds coming over the hills were very beautiful. apparently Marilyn Monroe lived in the house from 1960-1961, people kept taking pictures of the house from the street on little bicycle tours.”

“I am trying to figure out the funniest way to play a keyboard. This was definitely the most professional video shoot I’ve done, it was pretty overwhelming tbh. So many people there to help make this thing for me, so much expensive gear. Very grateful for everyones time and patience.”

“We spent a couple hours driving around trying to find the right spots to film, and this cul-de-sac ended up covering a lot of bases. There were some guys there taking turns ripping around on a minibike, and a lot of tire streaks on the pavement from people doing donuts. When we first found it there was a guy sitting in his car yelling to himself about something, I hope his day got better.”

“This is the funniest man in Berlin, Jason Harvey, and the tattoo on his back. I met him years ago in montreal, and was so happy he happened to be around for the shoot. I really cannot believe this tattoo, it is hard to look at because of how beautiful it is. Wow.”

“After wrapping the shoot we still had the limo for a couple hours so we just rolled around Palm Springs drinking tequila. This is beautiful angel Salina having an extremely good time on top of the limo, after we looked at the giant Marilyn Monroe statue they got out there. Pretty weird town.”
