Born in Mississippi, two-time Grammy/Latin Grammy recognised artist and producer Starita can do it all. Known for his work across a range of genres, from collaborations with Childish Gambino and Third Eye Blind to his debut album The Wake Up Call, he has been making a name for himself and establishing his expertise in the electronic scene and beyond. As he fuses acoustic instrumentals into dance, funk, rock, and techno, he creates one-of-a-kind immersive soundscapes that are bound to ignite a fire in you.
His new single, “Holding Pattern”, comes as the first taste of his forthcoming, highly-anticipated second album, Remember. Accompanied by an edit by Jay-J, a Grammy-nominated producer and DJ, the track is an experimental late-night club treat. Combining a hypnotic sound with introspective themes, it is absolutely dynamic. Tape loops and chaotic effects detail a story of perseverance and freedom — breaking free from mental blockades and stifling patterns.
“Given the theme of being stuck in a pattern, there had to be a significant amount of tension and an almost hypnotic quality in the sonic elements, which you will hear in the song’s opening,” Starita explains. “As with any breaking of a pattern, there is a feeling of release so the song evolves this way; from tension to release.”
