Wonderland

ROMULO × DON PAPA RUM

The Kensington eatery have partnered up with Don Papa Rum for a special food and cocktail experience.

If you’ve been gasping for a sugary-sweet drink of something harder than a pink gin perhaps a bit more than usual, don’t worry, you’re not the only one. The last few months have been far from a joy ride, so why not treat yourself to a tasty beverage, or several, at Kensington High Street’s most fabulous bar & restaurant – Romulo?

The multi-award-winning Filipino eatery is paying tribute to the cocktail for an entire month this October, joining forces with celebrated single-island rum distillery Don Papa Rum to create a mouth-watering food and cocktail pairing experience, titled Sugarlandia.

The partnership aims to commemorate the grandfather of the restaurant’s co-owner, Brigadier General Carlos P. Romulo, a United Nations president who invaded Leyte on the 20th October 1944 and initiated the end of the Japanese occupation of the Philippines.

With such an inspiring history to explore, Romulo implore us to eat well and raise a glass of Sunshine in Sugarlandia – made with Don Papa Rum, lemongrass, calamansi, ginger, honey and a sprinkling of Makrut lime leaves, or their second signature drink – Buko Pandan, also featuring the delicious Don Papa Rum, pandan leaves, coconut, chocolate and tangy sea salt, and give peace a chance.

Available from Friday 9th October to Sunday 15th November, the limited-edition, three-course Sugarlandia Menu is priced at just £35 per person. Romulo are even holding a raffle for customers who throw themselves into the experience, awarding two 70cl bottles of Don Papa Rum a week, and even one giant 4.5l offering. We’ve booked our table already…
